For a lucky few, the sweetness of SUGAR will be in ample of supply prior to the 2008 Machine Quilters Showcase in Kanas City. Quilters have gathered here prior to MQS in Kansas City to learn the new Creative Studio Software introduced by Statler Stitcher and Gammill.

I started machine quilting on a Gammill Statler Stitcher – so I know it and love it!Gina Halladay Cranberry Quiltworks Gammill Statler Stitcher

I am lucky enough to be apart of the fun and have been busy in classes sun-up to sun-down in order to learn the fundamentals of Creative Studio. I hope to learn enough in these two days to not only be able to effectively quilt on my Statler but also share my knowledge of the Creative Studio with my customers and potential customers at my Authorized Gammill Dealership – Cranberry Quiltworks.

I will be meeting with Paul Statler and other Gammill people and even hope to get some video. So stand by!

The MachMachine Quilters Show 2008ine Quilters Showcase is on. The 2008 show is boasting a tropical island theme. The show is hosted by the IMQA (International Machine Quilters Association), which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary.

Known by quilting insiders as MQS, it is the largest conference and quilt show that is dedicated to machine quilting. It is held at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

The actual show starts Wednesday, May 14th and runs through Saturday May 17th; however, classes begin on May 12th. If you are thinking about going but have not registered, you will have to do walk-up registration as pre-registration ended April 18th. Don’t fret too much. Many classes are still available and you may register at the show. According to the MQS website, “the Registration Desk will open at 7 am on Monday May 12th.” Check out the Classes & Events Catalogue.

Plan on some cool stuff. There are always spectacular quilts and incredible quilters, door prizes and lots of quilting fun. There will be Demo Sessions, a Shopping Frenzy and Quilt Exhibits. The show will offer $38,000 in awards and ribbons to the best quilts at its awards ceremony on May 14th.

The show has made it easier to get to the show and meet up with friends.

“Attention! If you are in need of a ride from the airport or to connect with a roommate for MQS contact the roommate rideshare coordinator by April 30, 2008.”

The chart will be updated May 1, 2008 for the last time before the show. For more info, email room-rideshare@IMQA.org.

As the authorized Dealer in Southern California and Las Vegas for Gammill Quilting Machines, I will be there checking out the fun stuff and then head to the International Quilt Market in Portland, Oregon.

Quilting with the long-arm quilting machine

Welcome to LongArmBuzz.

This little corner of cyberspace is dedicated to the craft of quilting using a long-arm quilting machine. These big chunks of steel, belts and motors create the wonderful patterns that make every quilt a finished product.

I am Gammill quilting machine dealer and have run a Statler Stitcher for the past few years. I love it. I also sell machine quilting supplies on the web and through my store, Cranberry Quiltworks in Yorba Linda, California.

Whether you own a long-arm quilting machine or just covet one, I hope you enjoy what I write here. I will look write about machines, patterns, supplies, techniques, tools and people in the growing industry of machine quilting.

Be sure and stop by often and share your success and frustrations alike. The community of long-arm quilters is growing and there is a tone we can offer each other.
